The National Swimming Pool Foundation® awards grants to explore health benefits unique to aquatic exercise and the prevention of injury and disease in and around the water. NSPF® is the leading funding source for grants to study aquatic health benefits and injury/illness prevention.

There is a long history of prevention research funded by NSPF, including grants on cryptosporidium (crypto) inactivation with the CDC, crypto removal via filtration with the University of North Carolina –Charlotte, funding the initiation of a Model Aquatic Health Code with the CDC and the creation of the National Aquatics and Sports Medicine Institute (NASMI) at Washington State University.

The need to fund research to prevent illness and injury in the aquatics field remains a top priority. The research that NSPF funds will demonstrate health benefits of aquatics to encourage more people to participate in aquatic activities.
