Garry Killgore, Ph.D. - Linfield College
The Art and Science lecture is based on Dr. Garry Killgore’s extensive scientific and experiential research, the goal of the lecture is to enhance the understanding and appreciation of aquatic training and rehabilitation from a scientific and practical perspective, specifically for athletes. To achieve this goal, an analysis of proper form and technique of deep and shallow water running, as well as related appropriate exercises, plyometrics, and drills will be presented. In conjunction, relevant scientific principles as they apply in an aquatic environment will be discussed, e.g. buoyancy, drag, density, depth of water, anthropometric differences, shod vs. barefoot, metabolic, physiological, and psychological effects, etc.
The emphasis during the presentation of Water Training for Anyone And Everyone is how to take the aforementioned material and directly apply those concepts beyond an athletic population to anyone and everyone.
